Stefan is the son of well-known South African artist Andre de Beer.  After matriculating with a distinction in art at the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria, he furthered his studies with a B-Com at the University of Pretoria.  In 1988, the travel bug bit and he traveled through Europe where he visited many art museums. 

Upon his return, he starts a promotions company in Pretoria and in 1991 moves to George.  Apart from a number of solo exhibitions, he has also participated in many group exhibitions.  His style can be described as impressionistic realistic.  His mediums of preference are oils and acrylic.
