Liezl was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1962. She graduated at the University of Stellenbosch with a degree in Dentistry (BChd). She had provincial colors in Gymnastics and still likes to keep herself fit. She always had a passion for color and as a student she started to paint on silk and exercised her love for art on a part-time basis.

In April 1998 she attended the Dale Eliot Fine Art Course in Knysna, South Africa which resulted in the beginning of her career as a fine artist. This was followed up by attending the advanced course with Dale Eliot in October 1999. Liezl has already taken part in two group exhibitions in Pretoria, South Africa and she did her first solo exhibitions in early 1999. Her work is now spread to select Galleries all over South Africa. She works mainly in acrylics and oils.
