Petro Neal was born in the year 1945 in Brits, South Africa.
Petro grew up and was educated in the Northern Province of South Africa. She had always had a longing to be an artist and indeed feels called by God so to do.
After matriculation and college, Petro became a full time teacher. In 1991 she started to move away from teaching, taking out courses with well-known contemporary artists and teachers.
She developed her style to be colourful neo realism/impressionism where impasto colour application in oil and acrylic greatly enhances the contrast to dark backgrounds.
Her choice of subject matter of florals and children strike at her hearts belief of the manifestation of beauty from God’s hand. To own any artwork is to some extent to own a part of any artists’ soul and beliefs – this could not be more true of Petro’s work. She is proud that her works hang in embassies, corporations and residences throughout South Africa and the world over. |
